On the Eve of Something Magnificent

Well tomorrow is the day!  I am to be at the Lodge at 6:30 and my first degree will start at 7:30.  I am excited and nervous all rolled in to one.  I know from the "very little" my friend has told me that there is a lot of work ahead of me and I am eager to get started.  I don't know all the details yet but my friend who was initiated into the first degree last month seems very busy and says he can't wait till tomorrow so we can work on everything together.  The only thing he was said to me about his night a month ago was that it was awesome and I will love it and probably not be able to sleep thinking about the experience I have just had.  I look forward to the first step of my journey and will post my feelings and impressions as soon as I am able to post.

The Letter

I went to the mailbox today and got a letter from the Masonic Lodge that I had petitioned for my degrees.  This is the letter that I had been waiting for since I first decided to go on this journey into Freemasonry.  I open it with all the anticipation of a child at Christmas and read the words I have been waiting to read for months.  The letter said that the Lodge had voted to bestow on me the 3 degrees of Masonry and I am to present myself at the Lodge on October 25th for my initiation into the first degree.  I was so excited to read this that it made my week.  I will keep you updated with my thoughts and feelings as I progress through the degrees.  I hope that you will look at this blog and remember how you felt as you went through the degrees or maybe decide to join yourself because of what you read here.  Either way I look forward to what and may God bless all your endeavors.

The Moment at the Still-Point

I am a mixture of excitement and nervousness as I wait for the vote that decides if I continue on my journey and get to join the Fraternity of Freemasons.  The vote is just a week away and I am praying that everything goes well.  I have no worries about the vote but I think everyone feels this way before the vote knowing it just takes one to put in a black ball for you not to be able to join or petition again for 6 months.  I have a friend in the police department that was voted on last month and did his Entered Apprentice initiation just a week or so ago.  He was just as nervous as me before the vote but said that the ceremony was one of the most awesome things he has every experienced.  The Lodge, knowing that we are friends, reminded him that he could not tell me anything about the ceremony which I prefer because I want to be able to experience the ritual without any preconceptions.  I am looking forward to the coming month and I will keep you updated with the results of the vote and all of my feelings and experiences yet to come.

The First Step

To start the next step on the journey I have petitioned to join the fraternity of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons.  Why the Masons you might ask and my answer is why not.  It is an organization that strives to take good men and make them better and seeks to better society around them.

I have thought about joining for years and researched it extensively including all of the allegations made against them, some of them tremendousness ridiculous, and searching out the truth about each incident and allegation in which I found that between the rare unfortunate incidents of individuals, false allegations, forgeries, and out right lies, that the Masons are good men, that believe in a higher power grater than themselves, and seek to be better men.

I will be voted on at the next meeting and hope to be accepted.  I will record my feelings and impressions in this journal as I go along this journey.  I will not reveal anything that is not all ready public knowledge but I would like to remember my thoughts and feelings during this time and preserve them to cherish later.  I have a friend who has already been voted on and will become an Entered Apprenticeship in the next week and we are both excited to get started.

Please join me on this journey and experience this unforgettable experience with me, whether you have been in the craft for years and just want to re-live your own experiences or someone that might be interested in taking the same journey.  I look forward to your company on this road.

Starting Over

I am still trying to get use to blogging so forgive me if I go off track.  My previous post were taking me in a different direction than I meant to go with this blog so I have decided to start over.  I am starting on a journey that I believe will change me life and want a place to write down my experiences and discoveries both for me to reflect on but also to share with the people who decide to follow me.  I will discuss this journey further in my following posts but for now I will say that my life is in flux, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but change is always interesting.  I want to thank all of you who have decided to follow me and ask for your forgiveness in advance as I develop my writing style and the process of organizing my thoughts.

In your service,
